LUCKNOW, March 26 -- Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) chairman Ashish Kumar Goyal on Wednesday took a tough stance on transformer failures and poor revenue recovery, warning of strict action against erring officials ahead of the summer season. Reviewing the performance of state discoms at Shakti Bhawan, Goyal directed officials to identify underperforming personnel across all levels from junior engineers to superintending engineers and initiate action after a detailed assessment in the first week of April. He stressed that revenue collection must match power supply, asking officials to intensify bill recovery efforts in mission mode. "Consumers with pending dues should be contacted and urged to clear bills, failing which disconnection may follow. Reach out to consumers enrolled under the bill relief scheme but defaulting on installments," he told officials. Highlighting the role of transformers in maintaining uninterrupted supply, Goyal warned that any transformer failure due to negligence would invite accountability up to the level of superintending engineers.
