VARANASI, Sept. 25 -- Additional director general of police (ADG) Naveen Arora has directed superintendents of police (SPs) of districts in Varanasi zone to establish specialised zonal-level committees to combat organised crime. The directive, issued during a review meeting at the 'Prerana Auditorium,' aims to bolster law enforcement efforts ahead of the upcoming Sharadiya Navratri and Dussehra festivals. The meeting, held via video conference with officials from all ranges and districts, focused on critical security and administrative priorities, including law and order, public grievance redressal, and the effective control of illegal activities. To standardise the response to criminal threats, the ADG ordered the formation of committees at the zonal level, each to be chaired by an officer of additional SP rank. These committees are tasked with addressing illegal liquor, narcotics, cattle smuggling, and cybercrime, with a mandate to submit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and effective enforcement. ADG Arora instructed district SPs, additional SPs and circle officers to personally participate in Police Lines parades and conduct 'Order Room' proceedings every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. These sessions are intended to familiarise leadership with district-level logistics and ensure the optimal utilisation of resources. Furthermore, officials were directed to maintain strict oversight of digital systems. Key focus areas include updating data in the 'Yaksha' app and ensuring the effective implementation of the 'e-Sakshya' and 'e-Summon' systems....
