LAKHIMPUR KHERI, Feb. 28 -- A 50-year-old woman and her 19-year-old daughter died while the woman's other 24-year-old daughter was critical after the trio allegedly consumed some poisonous substance and later also attempted to hang themselves at their home in Lakhimpur Kheri district's Kakori village under Mailani police limits on Friday, police said. Their family members rushed them Mailani community health centre where the woman and her younger daughter were declared brought dead while the elder daughter was referred to the district hospital in view of her serious condition. Confirming the incident, Khyati Garg, superintendent of police, Lakhimpur Kheri, said preliminary probe suggests that the three were depressed owing to the unfortunate death of the woman's eldest son in a road accident in December last year.
