LUCKNOW, Aug. 13 -- Urban development and energy minister AK Sharma on Wednesday said the compressed biogas (CBG) industry had great potential to increase farmers' incomes by converting agricultural waste into wealth and creating jobs in villages. Speaking at the India Bioenergy & Tech Expo-2026 at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Sharma said the UP government would provide all possible support to entrepreneurs investing in the bioenergy sector. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had shown the country the path of green energy and Uttar Pradesh, under chief minister Yogi Adityanath, was emerging as a major clean-energy hub. Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Sharma accused him of misleading farmers and youth. He said Gandhi should first write "University" in Hindi and give the Hindi full forms of IIT and IIM before lecturing the country on knowledge. Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi said UP, the country's largest grain-producing state, had abundant agricultural waste that could be converted into energy and help strengthen farmers financially. An MoU worth Rs.1,000 crore was signed with KIS and Paras Group. Officials also stressed promoting animal husbandry and setting up one lakh small biogas plants across the state. htc...
