PRAYAGRAJ, June 24 -- An elderly woman has accused a builder and his associates of cheating her of Rs 38.5 lakh on the pretext of constructing a house in Nasirpur Silna under Airport police station area in Prayagraj. She also alleged that when she demanded her money back, the accused sought Rs 10 lakh as extortion and threatened to kill her. Following a court order, the Airport Police have registered an FIR against three named accused and two unidentified persons. According to the complaint, Seema Pandey, a resident of Sarai Akil in Kaushambi district, had purchased a plot in Sai Vihar Colony, Nasirpur and planned to build a house there. She approached Ankesh Agrahari, a resident of Rajapur who claimed to be a builder, for the construction work. Seema alleged that Agrahari, along with his associates Shoaib, Amit Gupta, and two unidentified persons, collected around Rs 38.5 lakh from her in several installments. The money was allegedly taken for obtaining approval of the building plan from the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) and for carrying out construction work. However, despite receiving the money, the accused neither completed the construction nor returned the amount, she alleged. The complainant further stated that when she asked for a refund, the accused instead demanded Rs 10 lakh as extortion money. She alleged that they claimed links with the Atiq gang to intimidate her, visited her residence, assaulted her, and threatened her with dire consequences. Seema claimed that no action was taken despite her earlier complaints to the police, forcing her to seek legal intervention through the court.
