LUCKNOW, July 17 -- Urging a massive shift towards community-led water conservation, environmental experts and academicians on Thursday called for combining cutting-edge scientific technology with India's ancient water management traditions to combat the worsening global water crisis. Speaking at a special lecture organised at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh State Museum to mark the groundwater week, they emphasised that river rejuvenation, stricter industrial regulations and treating water conservation as a collective moral responsibility are non-negotiable steps to guarantee long-term food security and safe water for future generations. The event on the theme 'Safe Water for Future Generations: A Collective Responsibility', brought together top policymakers and educators to map out solutions to the region's rapidly depleting water tables.
