'Ahead of 2027, Nishad Party eyes all seats lost in past polls'
PRAYAGRAJ, July 19 -- Uttar Pradesh fisheries minister and Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad on Saturday said the BJP-Nishad Party alliance has strengthened the Nishad community politically and electorally, adding that his party will seek all constituencies lost in the previous assembly election as part of seat-sharing for the 2027 UP polls. Speaking to journalists in Prayagraj, Nishad said BJP had allotted several constituencies it had previously lost to his party, and the Nishad Party succeeded in winning those seats. He said the party now plans to seek all constituencies that were lost in the last Assembly election.
Responding to remarks by Karchana MLA Piyush Ranjan Nishad, who recently said Dr Nishad is not the godfather of the Nishad community, the minister declined to comment directly. However, he said that before the Nishad Party was formed, members of the community often faced criminal allegations and lacked political representation. Nishad said the formation of the party united the community and enabled its members to become legislators and ministers. He also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognises the Nishad Party's contribution to elections not only in UP but also in West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
"PM Modi does not embrace me without reason," Nishad said, adding that his role in strengthening the party's electoral prospects is understood at the national level. Without naming anyone, he also criticised his detractors, saying those with a "broker-like mentality" would not understand such political realities. Nishad also announced that the Nishad Party will launch a campaign from Prayagraj to connect young voters with polling booths and strengthen grassroots political participation ahead of 2027 assembly polls....
