Yellow alert for thunderstorms, gusty winds in Himachal for four days
Shimla, June 26 -- The Shimla Met office on Thursday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in parts of Himachal Pradesh over the next four days and forecast a wet spell across state till July 1.
The alert has been issued for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts for Friday, and for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts from Saturday to Monday, the Met office said.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightening and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 kmph are likely at isolated places in the affected districts, it added.
Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in several parts of the state. Nargota Suriyan received 48.2 mm of rain, followed by Ghamoor 39.4 mm, Malraon 33 mm, Sundernagar 30.8 mm, Bilaspur 25 mm, Solan 12.5 mm and Shimla 11.1 mm.
During the past 24 hours since Wednesday evening, hailstorm was reported from Sundernagar, while thunderstorms and lightening occurred in Shimla, Jubberhatti, Sundernagar, Kangra and Murari Devi.
Una was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees Celsius, while Kumkumseri recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 6.6 degrees Celsius....
