Washington, Sept. 26 -- President Donald Trump said he had a "very productive meeting" with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, but provided no details on any potential deals or breakthroughs from their discussions. "Tremendous things will be happening," Trump said in a social media post Friday morning, casting their talks the day before as beneficial to "both the USA and China." The post, however, lacked any substantive announcements on any of the major issues that have strained US-China ties, including trade, export controls, Taiwan or how to manage their race to dominate artificial intelligence. Trump touched on AI, but focused instead on his push to rename artificial intelligence as "super intelligence," an effort that has drawn mockery and criticism that the president is not addressing the challenges raised over the technology's threats to jobs, the environment and humanity itself. Trump claimed Xi was on board with the rebrand. "Like almost everyone else, he seemed to like calling the poorly and inaccurately named Artificial Intelligence to a far more accurate and important name, SUPER INTELLIGENCE," Trump said. "That would be 'SUPER!' Everyone last night agreed, also." Xi's visit to Washington has been marked by pomp and pageantry as the US president rolled out the red carpet for the leader of an economic and military rival, with military bands and an opulent state dinner. But there has been little substance in terms of addressing key points of friction.
