Temp dips as rain lashes parts of Himachal, more likely till June 21
Dharamshala, June 16 -- Rainfall lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh, including the state capital Shimla, on Monday with the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, forecasting more showers across the state until June 21.
Rain was reported from several areas, including Kangra, Dharamshala, Shimla, Chamba and Una.
According to IMD, Khadrala recorded 5 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours, followed by Manali with 2 mm and Kukumseri with 1.3 mm.
Trace rainfall was also recorded in Keylong and Kangra.
MeT department officials said light showers are likely at a few places across the state from June 16 to 21.
Notably, a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to affect northwest India from June 18.
The weather office issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts on June 18. A similar alert has also been issued for Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts on June 19.
On Monday, Una remained the hottest in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius.
It was followed by a maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius in Bhuntar and Neri.
Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 24.4 degrees Celsius, which was 0.5 degrees below normal, while Dharamshala recorded a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, which is 0.7 degrees below normal. A maximum temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Manali.
According to IMD, maximum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 2-4 degrees over many parts of the state during the next 3-4 days.
Similarly, the minimum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 2-3 degrees over many parts of the state during the next 4-5 days....
