Speaker announces best MLA award
Shimla, March 26 -- Himachal Pradesh Assembly speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania announced the institution of a "Best MLA Parliamentary Award" to recognise excellence in legislative performance during the ongoing budget session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
The award would be given on August 4 on birthday of founder of Himachal Pradesh YS Parmar.
He praised the active participation of women legislators and expressed particular appreciation for first-time MLAs such as Anuradha Rana and Kamlesh Thakur, noting that their quality of debate, articulation, and engagement reflects a healthy democratic culture.
The Speaker said the award would be based on parameters like quality of debate, participation in discussions, and attendance, aiming to encourage higher standards in parliamentary conduct.
Referring to past examples, he mentioned leaders like Mukesh Agnihotri and Asha Kumari who were recognised for their strong performance in the House.
