Shimla, Sept. 24 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday retained Shrikant Sharma as the party's in-charge for Himachal Pradesh and appointed Rajya Sabha member Darshana Singh as the new co-in-charge of the state. BJP MLA from Pachhad, Reena Kashyap, has been appointed co-in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir. Satish Poonia has been appointed BJP in-charge for J&K and Punjab. Sharma, a senior BJP leader and MLA from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, has been given charge of Himachal Pradesh again as part of the party's organisational covering of states and UTs. Sharma has served as energy minister in the Uttar Pradesh government and held organisational and media-related responsibilities in the BJP at the national level. He was appointed BJP's election in-charge for Himachal Pradesh ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and was subsequently given charge of the state organisation. The BJP won all four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh in the 2024 general election.
