Shimla: Permit fees for pvt vehicles on sealed, restricted roads slashed
Shimla, July 30 -- Himachal Pradesh government has promulgated the Shimla Road Users and Pedestrians (Public Safety and Convenience) Amendment Ordinance, 2026, to facilitate the private vehicles owners in Shimla town.
Besides the Mall Road, the road from Navbahar to Ridge, Chota Shimla to the Mall and Ridge, IGMC to Ridge, AG office to CTO and the road from Boulieganj via the Advance Study Centre to Vidhan Sabha are among the sealed and restricted roads in Shimla town. It is pertinent to note that the movement of vehicles without a valid permit is strictly prohibited on Shimla's Sealed Roads. Only those vehicles possessing the necessary permits are authorized to access and traverse these designated roads.
According to the Ordinance, the pass fee for sealed and restricted roads has been decreased substantially. The annual fee of Rs.15,000 for a private vehicle per sealed road has been reduced to Rs.8,000 while annual fee of Rs.5,000 per vehicle per restricted road has been decreased to Rs.3,000.
It is also provided in the ordinance that vehicle owners can also take permits for six months duration. Rs.4,500 will be charged for private vehicle pass per sealed road and Rs.2,000 for per restricted road.
Earlier, the facility to get a pass for five or six months was not available for vehicle owners and they had to obtain pass for the whole year by paying full fee....
