Srinagar, July 9 -- Former Baramulla district development council (DDC) chairperson Safina Baig on Wednesday joined the ruling National Conference in the presence of party president Farooq Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah. Safina, wife of former deputy chief minister and MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig, joined the party at its headquarters, Nawa-e-Subh in Srinagar. Baramulla legislator Javeed Baig and minister Javeed Dar were also present. "I have joined the NC for the sake of people. I am impressed by the leadership of CM Omar Abdullah and the way he is running the government in the present circumstances," she said. She had unsuccessfully contested the 2024 J&K assembly elections as an Independent candidate from the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency in Baramulla.
