Shimla, April 28 -- The Himachal State Election Commission onMonday announced May 22as election date for theRohru municipal council and the Narkanda Nagar panchayat. With this announcement, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in both municipal bodies. Nomination papers for these elections will be filed on May 5, 6, and 7, and the scrutiny of these nominations will be conducted on May 8. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until3 pm on May 11. On the same day, election symbols will be allotted to the contesting candidates. Voting will commence at 7am on May 22; immediately after voting concludes-post 3pm-the counting of votes will take place, and the results will be declared. The Election Commission had already released the election schedule for 51 municipal bodies across the state, with voting set for May 17. The schedule for Rohru and Narkanda was not issued then because the reservation roster for these two bodies had not been finalised....
