Police destroy 175 kg of narcotics
Jammu, July 10 -- The police on Thursday destroyed a consignment of narcotic drugs weighing approximately 174.981 kg and 1,945 capsules and tablets in Ramgarh area of Samba district, said officials.
The destroyed narcotics included 2.05 kg of heroin, 1,036 capsules, 909 tablets, 7.68 kg of Ganja, 162.649 kg of poppy straw, 2.126 kg of Charas, and 482 grams of opium, said Kathua senior superintendent of police (SSP) Mohita Sharma.
The destruction was carried out with the approval of the competent authority, in the presence of the committee members, following the prescribed legal procedure for incineration, she added.
The seized narcotics pertained to 43 different NDPS cases registered by J&K Police Kathua.
The destruction was carried out through incineration at the approved facility of Anmol Healthcare in Rara, under the jurisdiction of police station Ramgarh in Samba district.
