Srinagar, July 3 -- People's Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti has expressed her willingness to attend the funeral ceremony of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US-Israel attack on February 28, the party said on Thursday. The decision came after Mufti received an invitation from Iran's international relations department. "Mehbooba Mufti will attend the funeral of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. She will travel to Iran to pay her last respects and convey her condolences to the people of Iran," PDP spokesperson Mohit Bhan said. Bhan also shared a copy of the invitation from Iran's Mohsen Qummi, Director of International Relations Department of the 'Office of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran' to Mufti as president of PDP. " It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that we announce the Martyrdom (Shahadat) of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on 28 February, 2026. In accordance with the national period of mourning and the protocols of the Islamic Republic, a state funeral ceremony will be held in Tehran," the letter said.
