Shimla, Sept. 5 -- Road infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh would have "digital and geo-coordinated maps", doing away with the repeated physical demarcation, public works minister Vikramaditya Singh said on Friday. Highlighting the key points of the Himachal Pradesh Road Infrastructure Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2026, Singh said the legislation marks an important step towards strengthening the protection, maintenance and management of road infrastructure. "One of the major changes is the introduction of digital and geo-coordinated maps of road infrastructure. Once the road boundary is properly mapped and geo-coordinated, repeated physical demarcation will not be necessary for taking action under the Act," he said. The minister said the amendments have been introduced with the aim of making enforcement faster and more effective.
