Shimla, April 18 -- Mandatory biometric data updation camps will be held in government and private schools across Himachal from April 20, a government spokesperson said. Department of digital technologies and governance, in co-ordination with the school education department and Samagra Shiksha, would organise these camps to facilitate the mandatory biometric update of Aadhaar for children who have attained the age of five years or 15 years as per UIDAI guidelines. Kashmir inspector general (IG) VK Birdi on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar. The meeting was attended by top security officers. Officers were asked to intensify surveillance on anti-national elements, enhance area domination in their respective jurisdictions, and strengthen security arrangements around vulnerable installations, including prominent tourist destinations. Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized over 21.68 kg of illegally cultivated opium (poppy) plants and booked one person in connection with the case in Kathua district, officials said.
