Shimla, July 10 -- The Himachal Pradesh government is in the final stages of formulating the new industrial policy, which will be notified shortly, said chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The new policy would play a significant role in attracting investment to the state, creating employment opportunities for youth and further improving the ease of doing business in Himachal Pradesh, said Sukhu while chairing a review meeting of the industries department. He added that consultations with all stakeholders are being held to ensure that the policy is comprehensive and industry-friendly and the state government is also strengthening the single-window clearance system to facilitate investments. Sukhu said the government is simplifying rules and procedures under the ease of doing business initiative so that industrialists can establish and operate their enterprises with greater ease. In a scathing attack Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday said that has the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) been in power, it would have compromised with the interests of state people in the Kishau Dam project. "We are fighting for the rights of the state. BJP would have accepted the previous agreement resulting in huge financial loss to the state. However, the present state government had rejected the old deal in 2023 and strongly defended Himachal's interests, which was a major victory for strengthening the economic condition of the state. As per the revised agreement the state would generate an additional annual revenue of Rs.600," said Sukhu. Sukhu said that the Congress government is working with transparency and accountability. Former CM and leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur hitting back at Congress said that CM's "I am always right" attitude and flawed policies have pushed the hill state back by two decades in terms of development. Criticising the government's handling of disaster management, he remarked that debris from the 2023 tragedy remains uncleared. He claimed that the affected people received only the compensation provided by the central government, while the state government failed to spend a single penny from its own announced package of Rs.4,500 crore. htc...
