JAMMU, July 19 -- Acting on a tip off, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), on Saturday, recovered 5kg of heroin from a forward village along the LoC in Poonch district and detained a drug peddler, officials said. The drug peddler, identified as Maneer Hussain, son of Sain, is a native of Kosalyain village near the border fence in Haveli tehsil of Poonch district, they said. "At about 9am, a team of the NCB officials from Jammu raided a house in Kosalyain and recovered 5 packets of heroin," said a police officer. A case has been registered and the accused has been taken into custody for questioning, he added. The heroin, smuggled from across the border, had to be transported into the hinterland through an organised cross-border narcotics network, said the officer.
