Man held for throwing 6-yr-old son into river
Dharamshala, Aug. 12 -- A man has been arrested for allegedly throwing his six-year-old son into the Ravi river in Himachal's Chamba, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Hitesh Kumar, allegedly called his sister around 9-10 pm on Monday and told her that he had thrown his son into the river at the Parel bridge near Kali Mata temple.
The incident followed a prolonged dispute between Hitesh and his wife, Sharika, who had reportedly been frequently quarrelling over minor issues. According to the statement given to police by Hitesh's father, Jaipal, his son Hitest and his wife Sharika used to frequently fight. They had an argument at home on July 16 following which Sharika's brother and relatives subsequently came to Chamba and lodged a complaint at the Women Police Station on July 17, the complainant said.
Following discussions, no solution was reached and Sharika's family took her and her younger son, Pushpendra, to Amritsar. Gagandeep, the elder son, stayed with his father in Parel, police said.
Based on the complaint, Sadar police station in Chamba registered an FIR on Tuesday under Sections 103 and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Hitesh Kumar. Chamba additional superintendent of police Dinesh Sharma, said, "We have registered an FIR against the accused father, and the investigation is underway. Meanwhile, a joint search operation by the police and NDRF is underway to locate his son."...
