Man booked in Rs.3-crore property fraud case in Jammu
Jammu, July 9 -- The economic offences wing of the crime branch, Jammu, has registered an FIR against a man in a Rs.3.75 crore property fraud case, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Pieary Lal Koul, son of Janki Nath Koul of Adarsh Vihar in the Channi Deeli area.
Following allegations of cheating, criminal breach of trust and misappropriation in connection with a high-value property transaction, the crime branch has registered a case of fraud.
The FIR has been registered on the complaint of a Jammu-based doctor, who alleged that he entered into an agreement to sell for the purchase of a residential plot along with a house at Channi Deeli, Jammu, for a total consideration of Rs.3.75 crore, said an official spokesperson.
According to the complaint, the doctor initially paid a token amount and subsequently discovered that the property had allegedly been mortgaged with a bank despite being represented as free from encumbrances.
It was further alleged that upon the assurance of the seller, the complainant cleared the outstanding bank liability and thereafter paid the sale consideration through bank transactions and cash, taking the total payment to approximately Rs.3.75 crore. Taking cognisance of the complaint, the crime branch (EOW) in Jammu registered an FIR under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and has initiated an investigation into the matter.
