Shimla, Aug. 9 -- Due to inclement weather and route conditions, the Kinnaur district administration has decided that the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra will conclude on August 15, 2026. Owing to the adverse weather and route conditions, the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra could not be conducted over the past two days, said officials. About 350 pilgrims are on the base camp and are awaiting to be sent to the cave to pay obeisance. The Kinnaur Kailash (locally known as Kinnar Kailash) is the fourth most important peak among the group of five separate peaks in the Himalayas in separate locations collectively known as the Panch Kailash or "Five Kailashas". Kinnaur Kailash peak has a height of 6,050m. The trek typically takes five to six days to complete, covering a distance of approximately 32km. The trek is considered moderate to difficult, with varying altitudes and challenging terrain. Due to weather and route conditions over the past few days, the yatra has had to be temporarily suspended. To avoid inconvenience to pilgrims under such circumstances, all pilgrims are advised to keep at least one-two additional days in hand while planning their journey. In the event of adverse weather or unsafe route conditions, the administration may temporarily suspend the yatra as a safety precaution, the officials said. Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Kalpa, PK Bhardwaj, said, "Keeping in view the route conditions and weather it has been decided to conclude the yatra on August 15. The decision has been taken to provide an additional opportunity to pilgrims who could not undertake the yatra during the past two days or who are planning to undertake it in the coming days, so that they do not face any inconvenience". 153 roads blocked across state According to the latest State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) situation report, on Saturday, 153 roads were blocked across the state, as against 162 on the Friday evening. Mandi remained the worst-affected district with 65 blocked roads, followed by Kullu with 42, and Shimla with 26. The adverse weather has also disrupted power and water supply services. Around 104 distribution transformers were non-functional statewide, including 53 in Kullu, 34 in Mandi, 12 in Kinnaur and four in Shimla. Meanwhile, 77 water supply schemes have been affected. Sirmaur reported the highest number of disruptions with 55 schemes, followed by Hamirpur with nine, Bhattiyat in Chamba with seven and Shimla with six....
