Shimla, Aug. 5 -- HimachalPolice on Tuesday arrested a 22-year-old alleged interstate drug trafficker with 1.12 kg of heroin, officials said. The accused is Vijay Kumar, 22, of Narayangarh in Haryana's Ambala district. Addressing a press conference in Shimla, additional superintendent of police (ASP, City) Mehar Panwar said the seizure occurred during a planned operation near the Shoghi border on August 3, following specific intelligence inputs. Police said preliminary investigation suggests the accused transported the heroin consignment from Haryana and was allegedly en route to deliver it to contacts in Shimla's Tara Devi area when intercepted. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway to trace the entire interstate supply chain. "This seizure is the result of our intelligence-based policing and the strategic shift towards targeting the entire supply chain instead of merely registering cases," ASP Panwar said.....
