Dharamshala, July 17 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, on Thursday said that the monsoon is very likely to be active over Himachal from July 18 to 23, with heavy to very rainfall activity also expected during this period. The weather office said that heavy to very heavy rainfall activity is very likely over mid hills and adjoining plains, with peak activity from July 20 to 22 over mid hills. A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from July 19. For July 18, the IMD has sounded a yellow alert of heavy rainfall in Mandi and Kangra districts, while a yellow alert of moderate to heavy rainfall has been sounded in Kullu, Shimla and Sirmaur districts. An orange alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall has been sounded on July 19 in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Shimla districts, while a yellow alert of heavy rainfall has been sounded in Hamirpur and Sirmaur districts. For July 20, IMD has again sounded an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu and Shimla districts. While a yellow alert of heavy rainfall has been sounded in Hamirpur and Sirmaur districts on the same day, a yellow alert of moderate to heavy rainfall has been sounded in Solan, Una, Bilaspur, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts.
