Srinagar, May 21 -- The J&K Police on Wednesday demolished an illegal narcotics-linked property worth Rs.1.5 crore belonging to a wanted drug peddler in Srinagar. Police said that under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Police Station Lal Bazar demolished an illegal two-storey structure along with an adjoining room and washroom constructed on state land at Haka Bazar, Lal Bazar. "The demolished property, spread over approximately 9 marlas and worth around Rs.1.50 crore, was found to be linked to wanted drug peddler Arshid Ahmed Sheikh of Haka Bazar, Lal Bazar, who is involved in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including FIR No. 31/2025 U/S 8/21, 22 NDPS Act of Police Station Janipur, Jammu and FIR No. 50/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Lal Bazar," a police spokesperson said, adding that the demolition drive was carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, Khanyar, and officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation. "The action was executed strictly in accordance with law as part of sustained efforts to dismantle the illegal infrastructure and financial networks created through the narcotics trade," he said. In another operation, police achieved success by apprehending five drug peddlers, including a wanted heroin supplier, in Anantnag, Baramulla, and Ganderbal, and recovering contraband substances from their possession. htc...
