Shimla, Sept. 24 -- The Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (HPSPCB) has launched an enforcement drive for implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, HPSPCB member secretary Sushil Kumar Singla said the 2026 rules, which came into effect from April 1, provide for segregation of waste into four categories at the point of generation. Wet waste will comprise biodegradable organic, kitchen and food waste, while dry waste will include recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and metals.
