Dharamshala, Aug. 4 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, has predicted heavy weather activity to showers to continue in parts of Himachal Pradesh till August 9. The weather office has sounded yellow alerts in various districts of the state during this period. For August 4, a yellow alert of heavy rainfall has been sounded in Una, Bilaspur and Kangra district, followed by a similar alert on August 5 in Kangra and Mandi districts and on August 6 in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Solan and Sirmaur districts. The IMD has indicated low flash flood risk to areas in Chamba, and Kangradistricts till Tuesday morning. There is possibility of landslide and flash floods in vulnerable areas, the MeTsaid. On Monday, a vehicle was damaged after being hit by large boulders that tumbled down a hillside during a rain-triggered landslide at Premghat in Theog subdivision of Shimla district. A government school building in Nirmand area of Kullu district also suffered damages after debris cascading down a hillside crashed into it. On the other hand, a purported video clip of a bus traversing a damaged stretch on the Luna-Chhatrari road in Bharmour assembly constituency of Chamba district has gone viral. The bus workers are seen placing iron angles over a damaged road to maneuver the bus across a missing stretch. According to IMD, light to moderate rain at many places and heavy rain at isolatedplaces was observed over the state during the past 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 8 cm was recorded in Paonta, followed by Naina Davi (7 cm), Theog (4 cm), Kothi (3 cm), Murari Devi (3 cm), Dharmshala (3 cm), Gohar (2 cm), Rajgarh (2 cm), Palampur (1 cm), Khadrala (1 cm) and Pandoh (1 cm). Meanwhile, as many as 109 roads remained blocked in the state on Monday. The highest number of roads blocked were in Mandi district at 43, followed by 39 in Kullu district and 8 in Sirmaur district.
