Dharamshala, Aug. 7 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, has predicted heavy showers to continue in parts of the state till August 12. The weather office has sounded a yellow alert in various districts during this period. For August 7, a yellow alert of heavy rainfall has been sounded in Bilaspur and Kangra districts, followed by a similar alert on August 8 and 9 in Kangra and Sirmaur districts. For August 10, a yellow alert of heavy rainfall has been issued in Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur and Kinnaur districts. On Thursday, rainfall continued in parts of the state including Shimla, Dharamshala, Manali, Mandi and Kullu. According to IMD, light to moderate rain at many places and heavy rain at isolated places was observed in the state during the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 8 cm was recorded in Dharamshala Aws, followed by Manali (6 cm), Naina Davi(6 cm), Nahan (4 cm), Sarahan (3 cm), Dharmshala (3 cm), Jogindarnagar (2 cm), Kothi (2 cm), Paonta (1 cm), Kufri (1 cm), Sangla (1 cm) and Palampur (1 cm). According to the authorities, 120 roads remained blocked across Himachal on Thursday. Mandi district accounted for the highest number, with 38 roads closed, followed by Kullu (31), Sirmaur (26) and Shimla (13). Moreover, 60 water supply schemes remained affected across the state. The old Hindustan-Tibet road (National Highway 5), which was rendered inaccessible at Negulsari in Kinnaur district after a landslide, was reopened for vehicular traffic, officials said....
