Dharamshala, Oct. 16 -- Nine second-year MBBS students at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur, have been suspended for two weeks for alleged ragging of a junior student, officials said, adding that a fine has also been imposed on them. According to officials, three students have been fined Rs.50,000 each, while six others have been penalised Rs.25,000 each. The disciplinary action was taken following an investigation by the college's anti-ragging committee. Officials said that the action was taken after a first-year MBBS student wrote an email to the college authorities alleging that he was subjected to harassment and mental torture by some senior students. The student has alleged that he and other juniors were summoned to a senior's paying guest (PG) accommodation. They were allegedly instructed to keep their gaze lowered while speaking to seniors and greet them by addressing them as "doctor sahib". They were also given a specific format to follow while introducing themselves. Following the investigation, the college administration initiated disciplinary action against the students.htc...
