Four Haryana tourists arrested for assaulting HRTC driver in Shimla
Dharamshala, May 25 -- The Shimla police on Sunday arrested four Haryana tourists, including a woman, for allegedly assaulting a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus driver near Shimla, police officials said.
The incident took place on Sunday morning when an HRTC Volvo bus was going to Shimla from Delhi. Police said that on reaching the Kachi Ghati area, the bus overtook an SUV (Scorpio) bearing a Haryana registration number. Taking offense at this incident, the accused travelling in the SUV stopped the bus and assaulted the driver.
The arrested accused have been identified as Pankaj Kumar, Vikas Kumar, Pratibha and Vicky Kumar, all residents of Panchkula in Haryana.
The Shimla police apprehended two accused on the spot. While two others, who had fled towards Theog, were arrested later.
Police said that an FIR has been registered against all four accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
"Further investigation is underway and a thorough inquiry is being conducted to ascertain all relevant facts," a senior police official said.
