Dry weather to prevail in HP till Nov 1: MeT
Dharamshala, Oct. 27 -- While the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Shimla office has predicted dry weather to prevail in Himachal Pradesh, the maximum temperatures may see a slight fall in the coming days.
According to the weather office, dry weather is expected to prevail in the hill state till November 1. While no large change is expected in maximum temperatures during the next 48 hours, it is likely to fall by 2-3 degrees during the subsequent next 2-3 days.
Moreover, after 24 hours, the minimum temperatures are expected to rise by 2-3 degrees in plains, while no large is expected in mid-hill and high-hill areas.
The average maximum temperatures across the state were normal on Sunday and the highest maximum temperature was recorded in Una at 33 degrees Celsius, followed by 31 degrees Celsius in Hamirpur and 30.3 degrees in Bilaspur. Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 21.2 degrees Celsius, while Manali recorded 19.5 degrees Celsius.
Notably, the lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Lahaul-Spiti's Keylong at 0.1 degrees Celsius, followed by Tabo at 1 degrees Celsius and 1.2 degrees Celsius recorded in Kukumseri.
During the last 24 hours, dry weather was observed over the state with no large change in maximum and minimum temperatures. The temperatures at most of the stations were normal.
Himachal Pradesh has received 189% excess rainfall with an actual rainfall of 68.8 mm against a normal of 23.8 mm in the month of October so far.
According to IMD, Bilaspur district has recorded 635% excess rainfall as it received 92.6 mm actual rainfall against a normal of 12.6 mm. It is followed by Solan district with 463% excess rainfall and 273% excess rainfall in Hamirpur district.
Notably, this year, Himachal received the highest rainfall during monsoon season (June to September) in the last 29 years and 15th highest rainfall in the last 125 years. The hill state recorded 39% excess rainfall during monsoon season.
This year, Himachal's higher reaches had received the first snowfall of the season on October 5. The early snowfall has raised hopes for tourismboost among stakeholders in the state....
