Shimla, Sept. 15 -- A week after a 63-year-old woman succumbed to injuries sustained in a fall following a monkey attack in Shimla, local residents on Monday staged a protest demanding Rs.5 lakh compensation for her kin, along with stringent measures to curb the simian and dog menace. The protest was held under the banner of the Shimla Nagrik Sabha. Satya Devi fell from the roof of her three-storey building following a monkey attack in the Cemetery area of Shimla on August 30. She succumbed to her injuries on September 4. A delegation of protesters, led by Jagmohan Thakur, met officials of the municipal corporation and submitted a set of demands, including Rs.5 lakh compensation and strict action against those who feed simians and canines in public places....
