CPI(M) holds protest, denounces US tariffs
	
		
				Shimla, Oct. 31 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI Marxist) held a protest in Shimla on Thursday, condemning US President Donald Trump's trade policy, which the party described as "tariff terrorism".
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Kuldeep Singh Tanwar, CPI(M) state secretary, said, "The US administration's decisions have triggered global economic instability and directly harmed India's trade, agriculture, and employment sectors."
The CPI(M) announced that it would launch a nationwide campaign against "economic imperialism" of the US and urged the central government to take a firm stand in defense of national interests.
He said, "Ever since Donald Trump returned to power in the United States, he has unleashed a 'new form of economic aggression' through excessive tariffs. The United States has imposed up to 50% tariff on several Indian exports and an additional 25% as a penalty clause. This amounts to economic punishment for developing countries like India."...
