Dharamshala, June 28 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha member Harsh Mahajan's health suddenly deteriorated during a party protest in Shimla on Saturday, after which he was rushed to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC). The incident occurred outside the Shimla deputy commissioner's office, where the BJP was staging a demonstration against the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government for delaying elections of the heads of urban local bodies. Shortly after addressing reporters and criticising the state government, the 70-year-old leader complained of chest pain and dizziness, and began losing his balance on camera. As his condition worsened, BJP workers and security personnel intervened to prevent him from falling. He was immediately rushed to IGMC in a taxi. BJP Himachal Pradesh president Rajeev Bindal and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jai Ram Thakur visited Mahajan at the IGMC to enquire about his health and wish him a speedy recovery. The senior BJP leaders also interacted with the attending doctors and received an update on his medical condition. The LoP said that party workers and well-wishers across the state were concerned after learning about Harsh Mahajan's sudden health issue. He informed that, according to the doctors, he was admitted due to dehydration and low blood pressure, and that there is no heart blockage or any other cardiac problem. Assuring his supporters, Mahajan later posted on social media in the afternoon: "Had to take treatment for some time due to a sudden health problem today. I have completely recovered now by God's grace, proper treatment by doctors, and the prayers, wishes, and affection of all you loved ones, well-wishers, friends, and supporters." However, BJP state chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal criticised the Congress government over healthcare in the state, and said that when Mahajan was admitted to IGMC, one of the hospital lifts was reportedly non-functional....
