Srinagar, May 3 -- BJP on Saturday criticised Jammu and Kashmir chief minister (CM) Omar Abdullah for terming the Special Intensive Revision(SIR) as vote theft. "Every eligible voter has the right to be included, and if there are discrepancies, they can be corrected through a fair and open mechanism. To label this as 'vote choori' is not only incorrect but also undermines democratic institutions," he said. Omar on Friday had termed SIR akin to the vote theft. Senior BJP leader and party's J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur said that Omar's statements are baseless, politically motivated, and aimed at misleading public. "SIR is not about removing genuine voters, as is being falsely projected. It is about eliminating duplicate, fake, and ineligible entries so that elections truly reflect the will of the people," he said. Thakur also accused Omar of resorting to fear-mongering instead of engaging constructively. "A CM should inspire confidence in the system, not spread doubt. These statements are an attempt to create confusion among voters for political mileage," he said.htc...
