Jammu, April 11 -- At least nine houses and a government school building developed cracks following a landslip in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district, officials said on Friday. "Following the incident Poonch district commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma with police officials reached to the landslide-affected area of Chikriban village to assess the situation and ensure immediate relief measures," said an official spokesperson. "During the assessment, nine residential houses and one primary school building were found vulnerable to the landslide threat. As a precautionary measure, the primary school has been shifted to a nearby private building to ensure the safety of students," he said. The spokesperson informed that the administration has also identified alternate accommodation for families residing in the vulnerable zone. A relief camp has been established on-site to facilitate immediate assistance to affected residents. Reassuringly, no loss of life has been reported so far.
