34-yr-old DRDA official killed as car falls into gorge in Kinnaur
Shimla, Aug. 24 -- A 34-year-old district programme manager at the DRDA office in Reckong Peo died on Sunday morning when his vehicle plunged into a gorge near Batseri on the Sangla-Chitkul road in Kinnaur district.
The deceased has been identified as Kamal Mehta, While the injured has been identified as Munish Chauhan, 28, hailing from Kotkhai, Shimla district.
According to the police, the accident took place on Sunday morning when their car lost control and fell into a gorge near Batseri on the Sangla-Chitkul road in Kinnaur.
Around 4 am on Sunday, Mehta was driving his car from Rakchham towards Sangla accompanied by Chauhan. Near Batseri, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plummet into a gorge.
A police team from the Sangla station initiated rescue operations.
The injured was taken to the community health centre in Sangla. After administering first aid, doctors referred him to Rampur due to his critical condition.
The district administration has provided immediate relief of Rs 25,000 to the family of the deceased, while the injured will get Rs 5,000....
