Dharamshala, May 4 -- Atleast 26 people were injured when a private bus overturned after the driver reportedly experienced a heart issue and lost control of the vehicle, in Kangra district on Sunday, police said. "Total of 28 people were in the bus. The driver reportedly suffered a heart problem while driving, following which the bus overturned," said a senior police official. The accident occurred around 11 am on the Pathankot-Mandi National Highway in the Nurpur sub-division, when the bus was going to Una from Chamba. The victims were taken to Nurpur civil hospital in ambulances. Four critically injured passengers were referred to Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda. Expressing grief, Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, said, "The news of the private bus accident in Nurpur is extremely heartbreaking. Several passengers have been injured in this accident. All the injured have been immediately admitted to the Civil Hospital, Nurpur, and their treatment is ongoing," he said in a post on social networking site X. Meanwhile, education minister Rohit Thakur on Sunday visited Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) to inquire about the well-being of teachers injured in Kullu accident on Saturday. The mishap occurred when a tree fell on their moving vehicle while on their way back from school. Four teachers died on the spot while three others were injured.
