Dharamshala/Shimla, July 28 -- Two people were killed and thirteen others injured after a bus carrying devotees from Punjab' Amritsar overturned in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district, officials said on Monday. All the people in the bus were from Amritsar and were coming back from Baba Balaknathtemple when the accident happened. The mishap occurred around 9 pm on Sunday near Shahtalai on the Deotsidh-Shahtalai road, on the Bilaspur-Hamirpur border, officials said. They informed that 35 passengers were on the bus when the mishap occurred. The deceased have been identified as Hitesh Kumar, 24, and Kavya, 15, both residents of Amritsar in Punjab. Bilaspur deputy commissioner (DC) Rahul Kumar said that the teams from the district administration, police and health department rushed to the spot and launched relief and rescue operations immediately after the incident. "Two devotees lost their lives in the accident. One died on the spot, while the other succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment in the hospital," he said. Officials said that among the seriously injured, one was referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh, while two others were referred to Regional Hospital Hamirpur for advanced treatment. Some other injured persons were undergoing treatment at Civil hospital Barsar. "Prompt medical assistance was provided to all the injured, and every possible support was extended to the affected passengers and their families. The cause of the accident is being investigated," Kumar added. Meanwhile, Bilaspur administration has provided immediate relief amounting Rs.1,08,500. Financial assistance of Rs.25,000 each has been granted to the families of the two deceased, while the remaining amount has been distributed among the injured. Two workers from Uttar Pradesh died in separate incidents in factories in the Kala-Amb industrial area of Himachal's Sirmaur district, police said on Monday. A migrant worker died on Saturday evening after being bitten by a poisonous snake at Wood Stock Laminates Limited, located in Moginand village within the Kala-Amb industrial area, sparking a protest by other employees. In the second incident that occurred late Sunday evening, a labourer died after falling from a crane at an iron casting unit in Kala-Amb. Bablu, 43, from village Bhatpura Jagir in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, was bitten by a poisonous snake while working on the factory premises on Saturday evening, according to eyewitnesses. He subsequently passed away late that night while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ambala. Following the death, the workers at a factory held a protest at the factory gate until late Sunday, demanding compensation. The district administration had to intervene, and the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Nahan, Rajiv Sankhyan, arrived at the scene late Sunday evening to pacify the protesters. He said that the factory management has provided immediate cash assistance of Rs.80,000 to the deceased's family for funeral expenses. Additionally, the factory has arranged for an ambulance and another vehicle to transport the body to the deceased's home in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. In the second incident, the victim, Vishwajeet, 32, was engaged in moving materials from one location to another using a crane at the factory when he suddenly lost his balance and fell from a height. He was taken to a hospital in Kala-Amb, where he was declared dead. Sirmaur Superintendent of Police N S Negi stated that the police are investigating the matter. "A case has been registered, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway," he said. A youth went missing and another was injured after their motorcycle plunged into the Sal rivulet on the Chamb-Saho road in Himachal's Chamba late Sunday night, officials said. The search for the other person is underway. Saksham, 19, and Shubham, 17, were returning home after attending the Minjar fair when their motorcycle plunged into the stream. Locals rushed to the spot and managed to rescue Shubham, they said. Police officials said that after receiving information about the mishap, a joint search operation involving police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel is underway since morning to trace the missing youth....
