15kg opium in car with fake army credentials seized in Manipur, 1 held
Imphal, June 15 -- A 45-year-old man was arrested for carrying suspected opium concealed in a vehicle with fake army credentials in Manipur's Senapati district on Sunday, police said, adding that more than 15 kg of suspected opium was seized in a joint operation.
According to police, the seizure was made at around 9 am at T Khellen check-post by a joint team of Senapati Operation Team (SOT), D-78 CRPF, B-109 QAT CRPF and 16 Assam Rifles under the supervision of superintendent of police (SP) Zaib Shaikh and the arrested driver was identified as Tarkeshwar Singh, a resident of Hijuguri Gaon in Margherita in Assam's Tinsukia district.
An officer said an Innova car with VIP flag post but travelling without any escort vehicle, was intercepted for verification.
"It was found that the vehicle was bearing the insignia of Army Brigadier (VIP flag post and one star). While one nameplate mentioned 'ARMY', another one which said 'MINISTRY OF DEFENCE' was also found inside the vehicle," he said.P4...
