Work on Rs.2,396-cr Package-1 of Ram Jal Setu link project expedited
Jaipur, May 25 -- The Rajasthan government has accelerated work on the ambitious Ram Jal Setu Link Project in eastern Rajasthan, with key construction works completed at the Ramgarh and Mahalpur barrages and rapid progress underway on the Navnera Pump House under the Rs.2,396-crore Package-1 of the project.
Officials said the project is aimed at ensuring long-term drinking water supply, irrigation support and industrial water availability across eastern Rajasthan. The ambitious "Ram Jal Setu Link Project" - the revised Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project - being implemented by the Rajasthan government has achieved significant progress, with major construction milestones completed in eastern Rajasthan.
Under Package-1 of the project, being executed at a cost of Rs.2,396 crore, construction activities related to water resource management infrastructure are progressing rapidly, officials said. Continuous monitoring by the state government has accelerated work on the Ramgarh Barrage, Mahalpur Barrage and Navnera Pump House.
A major breakthrough has been achieved at the Ramgarh Barrage project on the Kunu river in Baran district's Kishanganj-Shahabad region, where construction of the cofferdam and drainage channel has been completed. The barrage, with a storage capacity of 45.30 MCM, is being developed after a detailed 2-D model study conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee to ensure structural and technical safety.
Officials said earthwork in the non-overflow section is underway, while foundation excavation between blocks 1 and 4 in the overflow section is in progress. Of the total storage capacity, 3.90 MCM water will be drinking water supply to 0.196 million people, while remaining water will be transferred to the transport system....
