Jaipur, Nov. 2 -- Women accounted for 72.69% of the employment days generated under the VB-G RAM G scheme in Rajasthan during the current financial year, exceeding the national average of 62.25%, according to figures shared by the state government. The government said 1.886 million households and 2.166 million individuals had received employment under the scheme in Rajasthan so far in 2026-27. Households in the state received an average of 24.29 days of work, against the national average of 20.02 days - 4.27 days more per household. The Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), or VB-G RAM G, provides a statutory annual employment guarantee of up to 125 days, raised from 100 days. The state government said that the scheme was intended to support employment and livelihoods while also advancing rural infrastructure and village development. Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said the initiative reflected Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for the future of rural India. He said, "The Prime Minister believed that India could become a developed nation only if its villages developed, and that prosperous farmers, dignified workers and self-reliant villages would contribute to the country's growth." Sharma added that the scheme was emerging as a guarantee of rural employment and a foundation for a developed India. Along with providing work, he said, it was creating opportunities for water conservation, infrastructure development and village-level projects. The state government reported that 42,557 assets had been created in Rajasthan under the scheme. It said 35.88% of total expenditure had gone towards agriculture and allied activities. In Mission Water Conservation Blocks, 73.17% of expenditure was being used for water conservation, the government said. The figures indicate the scheme's focus on work linked to rural assets and water availability. The government said these projects were addressing essential needs in villages and rural habitations while contributing to development activity. The scheme has also recorded substantial participation by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Rajasthan. Scheduled Castes accounted for 20.43% of participation and Scheduled Tribes for 23.34%, taking their combined share to 43.77%, or nearly 44%, according to the state government. Nationally, the corresponding participation figures were 18% for each community. The state said Rajasthan was therefore above the national average in participation by both communities. It described the figures as reflecting the scheme's commitment to Antyodaya, or the upliftment of the most disadvantaged sections. The government also cited the state's performance in payment processing. Payment generation was completed within 15 days in 97.04% of cases in Rajasthan, compared with 82.46% nationally, a difference of 14.58 percentage points. In addition, 100% of the state's expenditure under the scheme was processed through the Electronic Fund Management System (e-FMS), compared with 99.97% at the national level, the government said. The figures released by the state place Rajasthan above the national averages in women's share of employment, average days of work per household, participation by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and payment generation within 15 days. The government said the scheme was supporting livelihood opportunities, particularly for women and disadvantaged groups, while funding works in rural areas....
