woman booked over husband's suicide: police
Ajmer, May 3 -- Police have booked a woman, her relative and two others on charges of abetment of suicide and mental harassment of her husband, who was found dead at his residence last year, officers aware of the matter said.
The man's 56-year-old mother, the complainant in the case, has accused her daughter-in-law and relatives of driving her son to take his own life.
The additional sub inspector leading the probe said, "Following the court's directive, police have now booked the accused wife, her relative, and two others under relevant sections of the BNS, including Section 108 (abetment of suicide) and other applicable provisions related to cruelty and intimidation. Statements of witnesses and family members will be recorded, and further legal action will follow based on evidence collected during the investigation."
According to police records, the son married the accused on June 29, 2020. After the marriage, his wife and her family members allegedly subjected him to continuous mental and physical harassment. Frequent disputes arose, with pressure to live separately from his parents, causing prolonged mental stress.
As per the complaint, the son died by suicide on January 17, 2025. The mother alleged that her son was provoked and mentally compelled to take the extreme step....
