UNITED NATIONS FAILED TO ENSURE LASTING PEACE, SAYS RSS CHIEF
Barmer/Jaisalmer, March 7 -- Mohan Bhagwat, sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Friday said that global institutions created to prevent wars have not succeeded in ensuring lasting peace.
Addressing a three-day religious gathering in Jaisalmer, he said that even after the formation of the United Nations (UN) following World War II, conflicts across the world continue and UN today appears largely ineffective in stopping them.
Bhagwat arrived in Jaisalmer on Friday. Later, Bhagwat attended the main programme of the three-day Chadar Mahotsav held at Dedansar Fair Ground. During the event, a commemorative coin and a Rs.5 postal stamp dedicated to Dada Gurudev were released and a book titled "Dada Gurudev" was unveiled.
This year's event is considered historically significant as the sacred Chadar of Dada Gurudev is being ceremonially anointed and displayed after 871 years.
Addressing the gathering for around 25 minutes, Bhagwat said people have forgotten compassion because they have forgotten truth. "We may appear different, but in reality we are one. Because this truth is forgotten, conflicts never end and wars continue," he said....
