Jaipur, Sept. 26 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday said Rajasthan has emerged as the country's leader in solar power generation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, with farmers in 22 districts now getting daytime electricity through the PM-KUSUM scheme and over 74,000 rooftop solar systems installed under the PM-Surya Ghar initiative. The CM said in places where decentralized solar power plants are being installed, the way has been paved for farmers to receive out-of-turn electricity connections. He further said that under the PM-Surya Ghar scheme, more than 74,000 rooftop solar systems have already been set up in the state, and the government has also launched a major program to install rooftop solar systems on government buildings. The chief minister expressed gratitude to PM Modi on behalf of the people of Rajasthan for granting development projects worth Rs.1.08 lakh crore, calling his visit auspicious and historic for the state. He recalled that in December 2024 and May 2025 as well, the Prime Minister had gifted the state development projects worth Rs.72,000 crore. He said that today, India is reaching new heights in renewable energy, and the foundation of the Mahi-Banswara nuclear power project will mark a golden chapter in modern India's history. The project will not only generate clean energy without greenhouse gas emissions but also provide employment to thousands of youth. The chief minister said, "Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India has become the world's fourth-largest economy and is rapidly advancing towards the third position." He added that with the Prime Minister's bold initiative on GST, the entire country is celebrating a "Savings Festival." This step by the central government has given citizens the opportunity to celebrate Diwali with enthusiasm. He added that under Modi's guidance, Rajasthan will play a leading role in India's journey towards becoming a "Developed Nation." Sharma highlighted the steps taken by the state government for the development of southern Rajasthan.
