two C-section complications at Kota hospital
Kota, Oct. 17 -- Two women developed reduced urine output hours after caesarean deliveries at New Medical College Hospital in Kota and were transferred to the Super Specialty Hospital for specialised treatment.
The cases come months after several women died of kidney failure at the hospital.
Hospital superintendent Dr Ashutosh Sharma identified the women as Reshma and Anita.
Sharma said "both developed complications a few hours after delivery. Their urine output had not stopped completely and they were transferred for specialised treatment."
One family later shifted the patient to a private hospital, while the other woman remains under treatment.
The families alleged that a faulty apheresis machine at the hospital's blood bank delayed access to single-donor platelets (SDP), worsening the women's condition.
Anita's husband, Hansraj, also alleged that she was administered the wrong intravenous drip.
Sharma said the women's urine output had not stopped completely.
He confirmed that a machine component was faulty and a replacement had been ordered.
The cause of the complications remains unclear, and the hospital has not addressed the allegation of an incorrect drip....
