Bharatpur, Feb. 10 -- A 16-year-old student allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room in Bharatpur, police said on Monday. According to the police, the child was a class 12 student at Master Aditendra Senior Secondary School, under Mathura Gate police station and had been living in Ambedkar Hostel, run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, for the last two years. "He was a native of Bayana. and had returned to the hostel on Sunday after seven days of leave. He was alone in his room," said Pankaj Yadav, City Circle officer. On Sunday morning, a hostel watchman knocked the door of the room to call the student for breakfast but got no response. The hostel staff broke the door and saw him hanging from the ceiling fan, Yadav said. He was taken to district Raj Bahadur Memorial Hospital where doctors declared him dead, he added. "No suicide note was found from the student's room. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. We are investigating the matter," said Yadav.
