Tax Evasion: 17 vehicles seized, 6 warehouses sealed in jaipur
Jaipur, Sept. 20 -- In enforcement action against tax evasion, the Commercial Tax Department of Rajasthan seized 17 vehicles carrying goods without valid documents and sealed six warehouses of transporters in Jaipur. The crackdown is part of chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma's zero-tolerance policy against tax evasion, officials said.
An official release stated that under the supervision of chief commissioner Kumar Pal Gautam, nine enforcement teams were deployed on various highways across the state. Using technical surveillance, the teams intercepted trucks carrying groceries, marble and granite, dry fruits, and electronic items without e-way bills or valid GST papers. The seized vehicles have been stationed at departmental offices where physical verification of goods is underway before recovery of GST dues.
The department also raided six prominent transport companies in Jaipur, including Gill Sandhu Transport, Jadia Transport, Kriyashakti, Sunil Transport, and PCM Cargo, located in VKI Area and Transport Nagar. Over a two-day operation, officials seized 1,960 packages of readymade garments, dry fruits, and electronic goods.
Initial checks revealed that the goods were brought into Rajasthan without paying due taxes. Large quantities of loose slips and diaries were also seized, which are suspected to contain evidence of further tax evasion running into crores....
